Board games and movies: Zathura, a space adventure

Waiting for the new exciting Hollywood movies adaptation of classic board games, such as Monopoly, Risk, Battleship, Candyland and Clue, let’s have a look into: Zathura, a space adventure (2006) another board game based movie directed by Jon Favreau and distributed by Sony Pictures.
Zathura, a space adventure is a movie that pleases both kids and adults and it’s based on a novel of Chris Van Allsburg , the author of "Jumanji", another fortunate example of the successful mix of board games and movies. Probably "Jumanji” the movie (1995), is more famous than Zathura and probably soon there will be a sequel.

However a lot of people love the movie Zathura, for its story and for the board game design (the game board it’s quite interesting).
The movie tells the story of Danny and Walter, two little brothers who find an old board game named Zathura in a basement, and soon they’re transported into a space adventure. To tell the truth, in the movie, the entire house is transported in few second trough deep space, because the two brother are playing the Zathura board game.
The only way out for the family to overcome the dangers and
the enemies of the space is to keep playing and winning the board game. During their space travel the two little brothers will face an incredible adventure, showing all their heroism and reciprocal love.

In the cast of Zathura there’s also Kristen Stewart, now worldwide famous actress thanks to the Twilight saga.
Tim Robbins into the shoes of the two little brothers’ father is another remarkable protagonist of the movie
Like many board games, Zathura is a movie for both kids and adults, a really good choice for a “pizza and movie” family night.
